Slab Mug

This is a slab built mug I made to practice slip and score. I chose a design that is geometric, using negative space for the handle. I was inspired by a 1960s colour palette and an orange creamsicle. I used CN 244 (Really White) and CN042 (Bright Papaya). My design is strong, and my glaze application is even. The orange was not mixed so the colour didn’t come out opaque or glossy after firing. The outside was still porous, so I covered it in a second coat to try and rescue the outside finish. It turned out well in the end. I learned a lot about glaze from this piece.
